Mission Statement

The Assumption School Community, in the presence of God, and as a member of the Assumption Parish Community, is committed to providing a quality Catholic education where children and learning come first.

Athletics

Assumption Family Center GymAthletic opportunities at Assumption Catholic School are enjoyed by team members as well as students, parents, and staff spectators. Led by the school’s cheerleaders, school spirit is strong for the Knights seasonal varsity sports. The recently completed Family Center has a large state-or-the-art gymnasium and hosted the first home basketball game September 2008.

Knights varsity sports, open to students in grades 5 through 8, include: girls basketball and boys basketball in the fall, co-ed soccer and girls volleyball in the winter, and girls softball and boys softball in the spring. Teams compete against Catholic schools in the Diocese of St. Augustine.

Assumption Knights have a winning tradition. In the 2007-08 school year all sports: girls and boys basketball, volleyball, co-ed soccer, and girls and boys softball, made it to the 2nd round of the diocesan tournament with each team having a winning record. Many student athletes go on to play junior varsity and varsity sports at Bishop Kenny and other high schools.

With the new gym in the recently completed Parish Family Center, the 2008-09 year will be an exciting way to start the fall basketball and winter volleyball sports.

Assumption Catholic School has a co-ed Running Club for students in grades 5 – 8. Students who participate may run for personal health and exercise as well as to compete in various community races and running events inducing the Bishop Kenny Cross Country Run, Jingle Bell 5k race, and the Gate River Run.

Students in grades 1 – 8 are invited to participate in the Catholic Grade School Race that is held annually at Bishop Kenny High School.
