Mission Statement

The Assumption Catholic community provides a challenging academic education where faith, children and learning come first.

Advent Service Projects

Advent at Assumption has truly been a preparation for the coming of the Christ Child. Assumption students, parents, and staff have been involved in many service projects.

The Student Council, under the direction of Mrs. Burkitt, made wreaths to donate to an assistant living facility in Miami. These wreaths will brighten the residents’ holiday.

The entire student body donated sheets and blankets for the homeless here in Jacksonville in response to a request from Jeannie Blaylock at First Coast News. Ms. Blaylock explained that there is a great need for bed sheets to pass out at the Rescue Mission when people leave. Many of these sheets had a message of love and encouragement written on them by the students. The sheets were brought to church to present to Ms. Blaylock and students prayed a Rosary and visited the Saint Joseph chapel to pray for the homeless.

Another community in need is a Burmese community resettling in Jacksonville to escape religious persecution in Burma. The Assumption community overwhelming responded and provided Christmas presents, warm clothes and bikes for all of the children. The party included the reading of the Nativity Story followed with snacks and gift giving. The Burmese parents were able to sort through the gently used clothes donated for their children. The children’s faces were filled with joy, and the adults shared over and over how grateful they were for all the school community provided. Their children performed songs, and it was humbling to see the joy they had in their hearts in the midst of all they are going through during this difficult transition time.

As we attempt to follow Jesus, who came as a Servant as well as a King, the Assumption School Community is blessed to have so many families who are willing to be a servant to others.

Here are some pictures from these events.
