Excellence Continues for the 2011-2012 School Year
Assumption Catholic School continues its tradition of excellence and faith in action during the 2011-12 school year. Principal Angela Fuller welcomed all stating: “Assumption remains true to the principles of traditional Catholic education, while keeping up with technology and best practices in teaching. Our teachers and staff are committed to our Catholic Identity. We are decidedly Catholic.” Assistant Principal Wendy Nelms begins a second year in administration after many years in the classroom.
The 2011-12 school year brings many new things. We added new classes, new students, new teachers, and of course new furniture and supplies. We are very excited to welcome the new families to our community.
We are very excited about our new Art room. The school transformed two meeting rooms in the new Family Center into one large classroom. The students’ desks and chairs were refinished by an Eagle Scout project, so everything looks great! Mrs. Summerfield is very excited about working in this grand new space.
New Smart Boards were hung in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade classrooms and one in Middle School. Now grades 5 through 8 classrooms have either a Smart Board or a large screen/projector hooked to a computer.
New round cafeteria tables and cushioned chairs were placed in Jordan Hall. The cafeteria is now a place where the students can eat with their friends in a “restaurant like” atmosphere.
A weekly Life Skills class, a team building class that combines scripture with fun and energetic activities, has been added to the Middle School schedule. Students will embark on an amazing race scavenger hunt, test their faith in blind volleyball, and recognize they are God's masterpieces in creative paper sculptures. All activities are designed to encourage individuality, bring unity to a group, and build Faith.
Assumption has been blessed in so many ways this summer! Schedule a visit and see why Assumption Catholic School continues to grow.
