Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4
The Pre-school program, under the direction of Shirley Valbuena, emphasizes a developmental, hands-on approach to learning. We strive to provide a Christ centered and nurturing environment which incorporates activities to promote the child’s cognitive, social, and physical development. Our school follows the curriculum objectives provided by the Diocese of Saint Augustine.
The school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. We offer before school care beginning at 7:00 a.m. and after school care until 6:00 p.m. We also offer a modified Pre K-4 class which begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m.
Daily activities include: Circle Time, Learning Centers, Music, Outdoor Play, Snack, Story time, Lunch, and Rest/Nap. The children also have Physical Education with the P.E coaches and Music with the music teacher on a weekly basis. Some field trips include: Mr. Al Concert, Hands-on Museum, drama performances, and the Jacksonville Zoological Gardens.
A mid-morning snack is provided daily. Pizza may be purchased on Mondays. On other days the children bring their own lunches with milk and water available for purchase.
The 2009-10 school year marks the fifth consecutive year Assumption Catholic Pre-school has participated in the Florida Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program (VPK) for four-year olds. We welcome your child into our Pre-school through this program.
