Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK)
Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) is a legislatively mandated program designed to prepare every four-year-old in Florida for kindergarten and build the foundation for their educational success. The VPK program gives each child an opportunity to perform better in school and throughout life with quality programs that include high literacy standards, accountability, appropriate curricula, substantial instruction periods, manageable class sizes, and qualified instructors. VPK is FREE for all four-year-olds born on or before September 1 who reside in Florida.
The 2010-11 school year will be the 6th year Assumption has offered VPK.
Hours are 8am til NOON, Monday thru Thursdays, for a total of 135 days (540 hours).

Step up for Students
Step Up For Students was created to help alleviate the enormous educational challenges faced by children in Florida who live near poverty. The program provides Tax Credit Scholarships to students in K-12 who come from low-income families. These scholarships allow the students to consider a private school that may better suit their individual needs. This choice is not based on whether the public school is judged as succeeding or failing. Rather, it recognizes that different children learn in different ways and that our collective struggle is to help the students who often are at the greatest disadvantage in modern education.

McKay Scholarships
Florida's school choice programs ensure that no child will be left behind by allowing parents to choose the best educational setting—public or private—for their child. The McKay Scholarships for students with Disabilities Program provided over 20,500 Florida students with special needs the opportunity to attend a participating private school during the 2008-09 school year.
Assumption Catholic School is a McKay Scholarship provider. Because of the many differences among children with disabilities, a screening interview is required before a student is accepted. This screening allows the parents and school to decide the best learning environment for each child. Please call the school at 904-398-1774 to schedule a screening.
